Statement on Tragedy at Nippon

Statement from the Cowlitz County Democratic Women (CCDW)

The Cowlitz County Democratic Women extend our deepest condolences and unwavering support to the Longview community following Tuesday’s devastating industrial implosion.

This tragedy has shaken our community to its core. We mourn with the families who have lost loved ones, hold hope for those who are injured, and stand beside the families awaiting answers for the missing.

We are profoundly grateful to the first responders from Longview and surrounding communities who rushed toward danger without hesitation. Your courage and compassion in the face of unimaginable circumstances will not be forgotten.

We also appreciate the swift response from Washington State leadership in mobilizing emergency resources and technical support, including efforts to monitor water safety, air quality, and debris cleanup.

As recovery efforts continue, CCDW will advocate for transparency, long-term support for affected workers and families, and the safety and dignity every worker deserves.

Longview is a resilient community. In this moment of grief, we ask Washingtonians to keep our neighbors in their thoughts and support the recovery efforts ahead.
